;D ;D

If winning isn’t the management’s priority, then Chang’s signing was brilliant.

He’s already a believer. He just likes to play the opposing view for the laughs. He knows what Cherington is doing is the only way to go.

No fedora for GW, sorry.

Great game, I was there with an old Marine buddy, we went to boot camp together and our first school together.

Probably the most picture perfect day of the year, tied for first with yesterday. Great crowd today, not very big but having a great time.

Roansy is the real deal!!

Suwinski!!!

What Shed knows is that Cherington needs to go.

"Per sources, Rodolfo Castro will be going down to make room for Travis Swaggerty. Has hit .197 while making five errors in 19 games, including one Saturday. Here's Derek Shelton on Castro jogging to first base in the second inning today against the Diamondbacks:

'Errors are gonna happen. That's a physical error. The running situation was a mental error. Not the effort we're looking for. Rudy and I had a conversation about it. It's not acceptable. We were in a situation where, with Vogey being on the bench, it wasn't a situation where I was gonna take him out because of using Vogey later with Castillo. But it's not acceptable. It's not how we play.'"

Trib says that Swaggerty will be in The Burgh for today's game

As for the rest, I'm not sure whether I should agree with Shelton's decision. I'd really want to agree with Dave- take Castro out right then & there.

Dave, you were the coach. Was there ever a time when you risked a loss (which, of course would hurt your team) to make your point (that helps your team in the long run.)?

My immediate reaction was that Castro should be taken out. In fact, I thought the best thing would have been to let him take his position to start the next inning and then pull him off the field before the 1st batter to embarrass him.

But I see Shelton's point with a DH there are 9 nonpitcher starters and a 3-man bench is problematic. And one of them is the backup catcher so it's essentially a 2-man bench. And Vogelsong looked like he was limping when they ran for him. So Castillo had to be saved for later. This idea of 14 pitchers and a 3-man bench is idiotic. The MLB limit of 13 pitchers goers into effect June 19. Can't happen soon enough.

I prefer pragmatic decisions over emotional ones.
