I would guess that Moran is a bench bat and backup at third and first.

I just took a look at Oakland’s depth chart, and their second base position appears to be very weak. I wonder if trade discussions of Frazier to Oakland have begun again since the Pirates signed Riddle. Possibly Oakland would be interested in Moran to play second, or even want Kramer as their starter. Could be another interesting week of player movement.

There has been no announcement, but it would appear Riddle must be injured, or he has Covid symptoms. He did not play in Saturday’s exhibition game, and I believe he did not play in a couple of inter squad games. If he is not ready to open the season on Friday, I would assume that Cole Tucker will make the 30 man roster.

I would take Tucker over him regardless. Let the kid figure it out in this shortened season and see what you have in him.

Why would Cherington acquire Riddle instead of Matt Adams? I thought he was seeing what he has?
