Just wondering how well you guys think jon niese did today.

They hit some liners early, but they were right at us. He kept the ball down for the most part. Didn't have great movement, but stayed out of the middle of the plate. Hopefully he can start trending back up.
I gave us very little chance of winning today. Martinez has been lights out -- Niese has been lights on. What a great win to start this series.

I still think the Pirates would be better off putting Glasnow in the rotation and taking Niese out in the long run. I'm hoping this happens at the end of July early August when the schedule gets really soft. Glasnow pitching every 5th day gives the Pirates a better chance to win more consistently then leaving Niese in there does.

I gave him a B. He really deserved to get out of the last inning. He got the (hard hit) ground ball at a guy. Mercer just didn't make the play. Six IP and one run is a good outing.
