To me, if Neal and Nutting want to continue to bang this drum relative to competing and trying to win titles (I laugh at the second one especially since everyone has a different view of competing), a move that would suggest this is calling the Marlins and offering Meadows for Christian Yelich.  Yelich has five more years of control at a very reasonable rate.  With the moves of Cole and Cutch, there is money to reinvest.  Prove it with your actions Neal.  Would people bark at this idea? We have a gaping hole in the OF now.

Other teams have offered more for Yelich. But Neil could said "we made an offer" and for him that would be just as good.

No offense, you have no clue what has been offered for Yelich. Neither do I. You are making an assumption. Seeing what the Marlins got from sTL for Osuna, who knows what they do with Yelich. That was a deal that if we shipped Osuna for that, our fan base would have gone bonkers. We went bonkers for our trade with Houston that sent an arm with two more years of a guy that wouldn't resign here and one that regressed the last two years.

Fine, send them Meadows and one of Tucker/Newman. Those are two SS prospects. We only need one.

Bottom line, you can't come out and say this isn't a rebuild and we will be competitive in 2018 and look at what has been done at this point. For Cutch and Cole we got two relievers with control issues; we got a #4 or #5 starter or reliever in Musgrove; an OF prospect that just played in High A ball and won't be ready for at least two or three years; a 3B prospect at the age of 25 and another OF prospect that wasn't claimed in the Rule 5 Draft. We haven't done anything to show this team is competitive. If you want to prove it, you need to make a move that shows it. This one is an example. We have a major need for an OF and NH is all about controllable assets on the cheap. Yelich's control is pretty darn cheap. Does Meadows turn out to be Yelich? I'm not sure. Do Tucker or Newman do anything in MLB? Have no clue. I know what you are getting with Yelich. I have no clue about the others.

Right - if this isn’t a rebuild then Neal must (for the 1000th time I scream) FINISH THE TEAM!! He’s got lots of available cash even for this cheap organization. There are lots of opportunities in the mkt place. There are plenty of holes - Neal can’t say he’s contending and then do nothing except collect a few mediocre prospects.

I hope somebody in the press holds his feet to the fire on this. I’m not advocating money to spend money, I’m advocating to finish a team that he claims is meant to compete this year.

I agree. I get that he has to engage in a certain amount of "GM speak," and no GM is going to come out and say, "Yeah, I know we're going to suck this year. We're hopeful that in three years, we can be competitive." Again, no GM is going to say that. However, if you're going to tear it down, go all the way. Trade Harrison. Trade Cervelli. Eat the contract if you have to. Tear the whole thing down. See what you've got in Diaz. See what you've got in Frazier and Luplow. I couldn't care less if the payroll is $30 million, as long as it's young players that we can hope on in the future. I don't want a $100 million payroll full of aging vets who are past their prime. Pick a direction...tear it down, or go for it. This sitting on the fence, half in, half out attempt is a very uncomfortable position to be in.

Most of the people here think he is a liar. Why do people believe Huntington now? He is not going to say the word "rebuild" but he did hint to it in his press conference in saying "three years".

This is totally "GM Speak". Actions speak louder. I would be surprised if Harrison is not traded. I hope for an outfielder.

Great idea fellow Bucco Fans on the attempt to land Yelich from Marlins. That is why I keep coming back to this site! Thhat is an interesting idea and rational one as well to make our Bucs better.

Huntington needs to secure an OF. Glasnow and Newman for Yelich? Not bad idea fellows...Toss in a fringe Low Level Pitching Prospect and see what Florida does then.

Our outfield would look great! And fans would be convinced that something is being done to make this team competitive...

I really feel like the deals sending Cutch and Cole were the final straw with fan base. People are tired of the same old song and dance. Time will tell if "No Deal Neal" and "Bottom Line Bob" really want to improve this team....Beatt'em Bucs 8-)

Yelich would be a great trade target. Very cost controlled for the next 4 years. I would definitely give up Glasnow or (preferably Meadows) as a center piece for that deal. I like the idea above of Meadows and Newman.
