Who is the #12 prospect for 2018

Post by psuinpgh21 »

So two rounds in a row for MLB-ready talent. Lots of players got votes for #11 but Max won by 4-5-5 and 6 votes. Adding high draft pick and the remainder of the trade for Cutch. Even though Crick will lose his rookie status with his first appearance.

The results so far:

1. Mitch Keller, 21, SP, AA (88% of the vote)

2. Austin Meadows, 22, OF, AAA (also 88% of the vote)

3. Shane Baz, 18, SP, Rookie league (34.1%)

4. Cole Tucker, 21, SS, AA (53.7%)

5. Colin Moran, 24, 3B, AAA/MLB (as placed by previous poll)

6. Ke'Bryan Hayes, 20, 3B, A+ (52.8% in #5 poll)

7. Kevin Newman, 24, SS, AAA (34.1% in #6 poll)

8. Taylor Hearn, 23, SP, A+ (40% in #7 poll)

9. Bryan Reynolds, 22, OF, A+ (40.9%)

10. Jordan Luplow, 24, OF, AAA/MLB (51.1%)

11. Max Moroff, 24, IF, MLB (27.3%)

I think Craig, Escobar, Kramer and Lolo are all deserving of consideration for this spot.

Also some interesting guys to add soon, like Cruz, Apostel, Uselton, etc.

Cruz, Uselton and Jennings are coming very soon.

As far as Apostel, we have not added a player who has only played in the Dominican in as long as these polls have been happening (way before I took over). I agree that he is a prospect but he is so far away from the majors. We have seen more Raul Siri, Johan De Jesus, Michael de la Cruz and Mikel Granberrys than we have Lolo Sanchezes, so let's see what he can do in the states. Certainly if he plays as well as he did in his 2nd year in the DSL (.205 in his first year), he'll be considered for next year.

I went Kramer because of his performance at an upper level, and I'm buying into his power jump. He may not have as much power in years to come as last, but if most of it survives, he is an interesting middle IFer.

I voted for Kramer last time and Kingham this time.

Don't ask me why because I don't remember.

I voted Kramer over Kingham on the thought he has a chance to contribute this year and while there are a lot of middle infielders floating around, he seems the most promising for second base. Kingham may turn out to be a good pitcher, but there are so many young pitchers I wonder how they get time for them all to develop. NH just seems to stack them up like cord wood. I kept expecting some to be traded but that doesn't seem to be happening . . . but each trade out seems to bring at least one more pitcher back.

This current group is all blending together for me. It's very tough to pick and I understand why so many are getting votes.

I went with Kramer over Kingham. I considered age. I am not so sure if Kramer will be up this season. I assume Kingham will see some time.
