Romero should report today. I assume Neverauskas is sent down. I at least hope so.
Romero has reverse splits, so I hope the Pirates use him wisely. Lefties have hit .317 against him as righties have hit .230.

I need some help understanding what Romero is doing if anyone knows anything about him?
Fangraphs shows 2 pitches, a 4-seamer and a cutter, but the velocities make no sense. He's throwing his 4-seamer 95-98 but throwing his cutter 87-90? How can that be right?
Is he really a FB, Slider guy and it's just showing his slider as a cutter? That kind of velocity difference between 2 types of fastballs is very strange.
ennybody know what the story is with this two-fastball pitcher? it makes sense he has reverse splits, he's nothing throwing any breaking stuff at all.

The average drop off in velocity mph from fastball to a slider is 7.7 mph.
Romero had a bad start this year (2 IP) and then was designated due to not carrying eight bullpen pitchers anymore. The Nationals wanted another bench player instead. I think it is a good move to see what he can do. If he stinks, he will be gone.

Fangraph's examples have guys throwing the cutter 5-7 mph slower, but not many examples. Maybe Romero's cutter is more like a slider? He might be getting more rotation than usual.

I forgot this was a thing until I saw his name on the Gameday page, with a picture of some guy with a Nationals hat. For a second I was like "who the heck is ennie romaro" and thought there was something wrong with the site.
