Something To Think About
I know this suggestion has been tossed around before, but after seeing Brault defeat the Reds should the Bucs consider making him one of their starters? I am thinking when Musgrove returns place Kuhl in the bullpen. He could bridge the gap for the seventh, eighth and ninth guys. Possibly even pitch a couple of those innings to not overuse those pitchers. The Bucs could also use a lefty in the rotation, so Brault could fill that need. These are just a couple reasons to possibly make this move to upgrade the rotation as well as the bullpen.

I prefer to leave both Kuhl and Brault in the rotation and to have Musgrove pitch out of the pen. Brault was often wild, but he also pitched well enough to be a winner. Kuhl showed a lot at the end of last year.
If I were the Bucs, I would reward those who have pitched well and make the new contender, Musgrove in this case, earn the right to be a starter. They also may be better able to protect his arm if he is in the pen without overtaxing the rest of the staff.

I agree Musgrove was better out of the pen. I don't move Kuhl for Brault, but I would give him a shot over Musgrove.

Brault's good start will probably give him another one and more rest for Musgrove.
Should players lose their spot due to an injury? That is a question that has been asked for decades in every sport. In baseball, Lou Gehrig will probably say Yes, but Wally Pipp probably disagrees.

Good question Dog. I say Brault stays in the rotation when Musgrove comes back. Let Musgrove get some innings out of the BP to build up his arm and then give him a shot at the SR. Need Musgrove to be a SP to save face in the Cole trade.

Good question Dog. I say Brault stays in the rotation when Musgrove comes back. Let Musgrove get some innings out of the BP to build up his arm and then give him a shot at the SR. Need Musgrove to be a SP to save face in the Cole trade.

I just hope the decision has to be made. Shoulder issues have a way of lingering.

Yes, it's not as tho Brault has clearly won a spot. But as long as he's doing well, there seems to be little reason to replace him with a guy who struggled badly in that role last year and who might be a big asset in the BP. If Brault falters, then give Musgrove a shot.
