Bucs get swept (3games) by the worst team in baseball. Oh well, Steelers open camp tomorrow

Prior to this series, I think most of us were looking forward to getting multiple wins against a team with a bad record. I felt the Pirates were clearly a better team. Now, not so much.

One reason the D’Backs have such a bad record is that they’ve played the Dodgers, Padres, and Giants 30 times, winning just five of those games. If the Pirates were in the West Division, would the results be similar? Records aside, it looks to me like Arizona has a better major league line-up than the Pirates.

Like....Underwood, for example?

If you throw enough crap against the wall, some of it will stick. Nogowski stuck. Underwood slid down the wall.

There are three teams in the Diamondbacks division with WP >.570. That's some tough competition. Granted, a portion of that is because of the Diamondbacks being in that division. ;)

We'll never know where they'd be over 162 games in some other division....or, if teams like Baltimore were in theirs. Right now, I think the Orioles are worse than the Diamondbacks.

Bucs had just one extra base hit in two of the three games in this series. That's not going to get it done

yeah, that wouldn't have gotten it done in 1908.

For what it's worth, BB-Ref says the D-backs are tied for the toughest schedule (with Phills); Orioles and Rangers are part of a 4-way tie for 3rd to 6th toughest; and the Pirates (with an average schedule) are in a ten-way tie for 12th to 21st toughest.

Any way you look at it, it's just different shades of the same substance. Diamondbacks tough schedule might be related to that division they're in.
