Think we may need to wait a few years to say that yet. Baz is still a long ways away from making the bigs.

Considering that both Meadows and Glasnow were once our #1 prospects and Baz is number 4; plus Rays gain about 17 years of player control to 3 year for Archer; I can say we gave up too much.

glad to get this one selected, glad Cruz wasn't the player.
Wish Baz good luck.

Exactly. When you get a name player at deadline, you have to understand you will overpay, and when dealing the Rays, you have to really overpay. That's why they've been looking at offers for several years. In the end, though, the Pirates (and the fans) wanted a strong starting pitcher and Archer is presumably that. So they are paying a premium here, but the key is whether they get what they wanted with Archer. For our sake, we hope Archer is that strong starter, a companion piece to Taillon.

And if none of the three pan out, we lost nothing. We had 17 years of control over Jose Tabata as well, what did we get from that? Look at Reese Mcguire, no loss there and it appears Ramirez may be the better for the two we gave up there. I understand your perspective, but I am unwilling to say we lost the trade until we see what these guys do.

I am also glad that we hung on to Cruz. I think he will be special

I will take this rotation next June. Taillon, Archer, Musgrove, Williams and Keller. If there are no injuries that is a strong rotation.
