I'm sure it's purely coincidence, but some radio guys say that the Rockies could be bad this year; like almost A's bad.

Good to see that Ben Gamel likely will be landing a minor league deal with the Rays.
Gamel was not the best of hitters or defenders, but he appeared to give it all that he had.

Yes, he did sign a minor league deal. For those who remember him he kind of reminded me of Don Hoak (the Tiger)

Tyler Glasnow out 6-8 weeks with a Grade 2 left oblique strain." He should miss the start of the season.

Roman Mejias died in California on February 22. His date of birth is being placed in 1925, earlier than during his playing days.

The 1960 yearbook shows 8/9/32. Baseball Reference and Baseball Almanac show 8/9/25. SABR reports "Román Mejías Gómez was born to Manuel Mejías and Felipa Gómez on August 9, 1930. Accounts during his playing days (including his baseball cards) typically gave his year of birth as 1932."

His earliest minor league stats are at age 27, which seems unlikely. His only season as a full time starter was in 1962 with Houston and he was their best hitter, leading them in almost every offensive category. But he fell off drastically the next 2 years and then was out of MLB. But it now appears it was just age catching up to him as he had his good year at age 36 and struggled at ages 37-38.

The Vanimal started for team Great Britain last night against the USA! Good to see he's still going strong.

The Mets have shut down Jose Q. for 3 months due to the stress fracture of one of his ribs. I was hoping the Bucs would have brought him back this year, but now with this injury,I am glad he is not returning.
