I could care less if he throws 100 on every pitch. His issue will always be throwing strikes.

I think his problem was always between his ears. His walk rate for TB was 3.1 per 9 innings. That's the same as Vazquez had for the Bucs last year, which is more than you would like but not horrible. Prior to the trade he was averaging 5.5 BB/9 for the Pirates and his career Pirate BB/9 is 5.8. His last 4 starts for TB last year were:
7 IP, 0 BB
6 IP, 2 BB
6 IP, 2 BB
5.1 IP, 3 BB.
Prior to those 4 starts he had a disastrous game where he didn't make it out of the 1st inning. But the start before that was 7 IP, 1 BB. As a Pirate he seemed to have a severe confidence problem and was afraid to throw the ball over the plate. He was his own worst enemy. Maybe getting traded reminded him that he has a great ability that another team would want. I think the Pirates were very frustrated with him because they knew he had the ability but he wasn't making much progress. If they hadn't traded him, he might have continued to battle a confidence issue and not have made the progress he made with TB. Now it remains to be seen if he will relapse or continue to improve.

Sean Rodriguez has a torn meniscus. May need surgery.
Might be the end of the line for him.
