Braves signed C Chris Stewart to a one-year, $575,000 contract.
Stewart got a major league deal, but he'll likely be stationed at Triple-A Gwinnett if Tyler Flowers and Kurt Suzuki make it through spring training without any physical issues. Stewart, 35, batted just .183/.241/.221 in 144 plate appearances last year with the Pirates. He owns a .230/.298/.293 career slash line.

Good for Tony, he will be more of a setup guy there and that is what he is best at.

Nationals sign J. Benoit. What the heck do they see in this guy? He was awful when the Bucs acquired him in July.

Looks like Jose "Neck Lips" is trying to make a comeback. He is starting really low by signing with the York Revolution of the independent Atlantic League. This from MLBTRs yesterday.
Announcement of the deal from the Revolution website.

As the article says, he'll just be minor league depth. Trumbo is their DH. And even if Alvarez could play 1B (which is difficult when you can't catch), they have Davis. Last year he stayed all season on the Orioles' AAA team until being recalled in September. Barring an injury, that'll probably happen again this year. He had a clause last year to leave the organization if he wasn't recalled early in the season but agreed to remain in AAA with little chance of being recalled. I guess he knows there's no market for him.
