There's been some recent angst about the Pirates not acquiring Curtis Granderson. He's hitting .227 with 21 HRs and 57 RBIs. But no one seemed concerned when the Bucs didn't re-sign Matt Joyce. Joyce is hitting .233 with 18 HRs and 51 RBIs. (He hit #19 today). Just sayin'

yeah, I was glad they didn't resign him. Thought his cost was way too risky and am somewhat surprised his bat has been this good this year. I look at him as a pinch hitter, maybe platoon left or right fielder.

Kratz has been good enough to kick around the minors and get time in major leagues almost (if not every) year since leaving the Pirates. Considering the Pirates catching situation I have to wonder why the Pirates didn't keep him longer, it is not like they kept finding better back up catchers.
