Will really be interesting when Gamel and Newman return, Park for sure but then what?
VanMeter's GOT to go! How could they rationalize keeping him when others come off the IL. 2 days ago they were defending VanMeter citing him hitting .345 over his last 10 games. Never mind that in 26 games prior to that he was hitting .167. And adding the 2 most recent games to the "Super 10", he's only at .250 for his last 12 games and .211 overall. He doesn't hit and he is poor defensively.

This is a real head-scratcher. I've typically praised BC for the plan he's implemented and is carrying out, but this obsession with VanMeter is so perplexing. Not only shouldn't he ever appear in the starting line-up, he shouldn't be on the roster at all. Staying with the team, and taking at bats away from Marcano, would be the worst possible decision regarding him.

Pirates’ general manager Ben Cherington has informed reporters, including Rob Biertempfel of The Athletic, that the club has acquired left-hander Manny Banuelos from the Yankees for cash considerations. No corresponding move will be necessary as the Pirates already had a vacancy on their 40-man roster.

I see where he is a 31 yr. old lefty who has pitched for

the Braves, White Sos. and Yankees. lifetime 7-13 5.61 ERA

yeah, he is just starting to master his talent. Maybe become another Ramon Hernandez.
