I assume Sean Rodriguez, but very good question.

It only makes sense to spend our limited millions on a corner OF like that, who is comparable value or worse than what we already have (Frazier) only older and having no future.

I love it! Let's go bucs!

I cannot match you with snarkiness, but I do agree with you 100%. TBMTIB deserves some snark, ;)

Cabrera is not an option for CF.

The best remaining free agent options who have played CF in the past include:

Jarod Dyson

Carlos Gomez

John Jay

Cameron Maybin

I do not view any of them as being exciting options.

I would prefer to see the Pirates try to acquire someone in a trade who could play CF rather than relying on the pickings through free agency. I would not be looking for a starter, but someone who could be a 4th outfielder for a few years. That said, I do not have any great suggestions regarding who that player could be.

Myself I could hardly care less about another 4th OF right now. Luplow needs at bats. He may be a useable piece if/when we decide we care about winning again. We have lot of 4th OFers. One of them is SRod.

Dyson is an interesting name. The rest mentioned are a waste.

Melky is the worst type of player we could add lol. He's a known clubhouse problem, a PED user and flat out not very good. He's also aging and wouldnt be here long. I saw the name linked to us and laughed out loud at what a perfectly dumb, directionless signing that would be.

Of all these free agents just by sheer luck still available...we are linked to a loser like Melky hahaha

I wish they would trade Harrison and start Luplow in LF.

I wouldn't mind a bench outfielder with some pop. I don't know about Cabrera's clubhouse problems, but he was suspended in 2012. That really shouldn't matter at this point.

So, you are like the owner and GM then, not wanting a competitive team.  Trading Harrison and starting Luplow in the OF makes a bad team even worse.  Congrats. I'd rather have that PED guy Cabrera in the OF than Luplow and that isn't a ringing endorsement for Melky.

Nothing great, but I'd rather see Carlos Gomez then Luplow.

What I took from Dog's post is that since it is pretty clear the FO does not intend to compete this year, they might as well trade Harrison for prospects and see what they've got in Luplow.

Personally, I'd keep Harrison at 2B and put Frazier in LF and let Luplow bat everyday in Indy for maybe half a season. But I think the team is already past the point of no return regarding whether they can compete this year. I think we all want a competitive team. But we also see that's not what the FO is going to do this year.

Yes. It's called looking at the big picture and being realistic.
