Looks like Polanco is receiving the standard punishment for having a good game.

Polanco has his biggest game of the year, so naturally he gets rested.

Difo has a huge game too and gets the rest.

Could have had Polanco in RF, Yoshi in LF, Difo at SS

Asdrubal Cabrera claimed off waivers by the Reds. I guess he was in the same boat as Polanco, except without the publicity.

While the odds of Polanco having 2 good games in a row seem slim, it's almost comical that he plays everyday no matter how bad but gets a rest after a good game. But Shelton is pretty consistent with his policy of sitting players after good games. Fortunately he only has 3 extra players not counting the other catcher so Moran and Chavis get to play. Earlier in the season Shelton was quoted as saying he likes the 7 inning d/h's and the extra inning ghost runner because he prefers fewer innings. That seems to be in line with his policy of frequent rest and "rewarding" good games with a day off. He seems to have a mindset that playing less is better than playing more and that not playing is a reward that can be earned.

No Reynolds
I'm just assuming Reynolds was a sched day off thing, like Hayes last night, but could still find himself batting 2-3 times. I've noticed the "rested" guys still often get into the game anyhow because of the tendency of our starters only going 4-5 innings, and having to make 2 double switches a game.

Playing the infield in in the 1st inning? Good grief.
