Non Drafted Free Agents

Post by fjk090852-7 »

I just saw a list of players who have signed that were not drafted last week. Several teams have signed players to the $20,000 bonus allotment, and it appears the Pirates have signed no players. Maybe the Pirates have just not announced any signings, but the article that I read was on the MLB Site, and it sure appeared strange to see several teams signing players, and not a single player signed by the Pirates. 24 of the 30 teams have already signed non drafted free agents.

even more strange are some of the low amounts said to have been signed of drafted players...if this is correct, a 3rd round pick signed for 20K and another guy signed for 80K way under slot of 500+K...what is going on? Or is mlbtr sign mistaken ?

I sure hope that Nutting didn't instruct Cherington to forego signing undrafted players because he doesn't want to pay them during a year when they won't be playing. If he's done that, I hope the Player's Union finds out and reigns hell down on him.

He's a right handed pitcher from Sacramento State. 6'3" tall, senior (I'm guessing). Here's the P2 link - https://www.piratesprospects.com/2020/0 ... agent.html

Also, on the signing front, Jared Jones signed today - https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/06/ ... -deal.html

Brahams strikeout to walk ratio was very impressive this year. 23 innings 32 Ks and no walks. I hope he maintains that control as he moves through the Bucs system.

Unless the Bucs are withholding information the only non drafted free agent to sign with them is Brahams. I knew it would be tough to sign players at the twenty thousand dollar price, but I thought the Pirates would sign more than one player.
