Draft signings update

Thanks to P2 and the mlb.com signing tracker.

Thus far the Bucs have signed 9 of the 12 players taken in the first 10 rounds of the draft. Remaining unsigned are Jennings (rd 2, #41), Busby (rd 3, #88), and Bolton (rd 6, #178). Bolton looks like he's signing soon. Busby is in the CWS, so he won't sign until that's done.

They are just less then $350k below slot based on the reported signings. They can spend another ~$500k without losing any picks.

8th round pick Blake Weiman signed for $150k which is $10.7k below slot. So, a few more scheckles to spend on the remaining guys.

P2 says that 19th round pick Jake Webb might require more than slot, and 16th round pick Hunter Stratton might since he is a JuCo pick. According to P2, both have agreed to sign.

Anyone with other options, e.g. go to or stay in college, where they have some leverage could require more than slot. So, certainly all (4 or 5) of the unsigned HS guys who will be eligible for the draft again in 2-3 years plus the JC/CC guys who can be drafted again as soon as next year.

2nd rounder and 42nd overall pick, RHP Steven Jennings, has signed for $1.9M or $265k above his slot per mlb.com.

Also, P2 is reporting that 19th round pick, HS RHP Jake Webb has signed. He probably took more than the $100k allotted for picks after round 10, but the amount hasn't been reported.

We fall in love with them all and two years later don't know hardly any of them but the first or second pick. I will say that I'm going to keep my eye on Jennings. For whatever gut instinct I have, I think he's going to be a good one. But we shall see ...

Dylan Busby signed today according to PP2.

Have now signed 35 of 42 players drafted including 15 of their first 16.
