Watching the LSU Ole Miss game today.

Crews is crushing the baseball. 2 HR’s

He now has an unbelievable .492 average.

That’s not a slugging average that is his frigging batting average.

Add 11 HR and 43 RBI’s.

Even more amazing is in 172 PA he has 46 BB and only 17 K’s

This is the most sure thing #1 since Bryce Harper

I don’t care that he is represented by Boras.

The Pirates would be fools not to make him #1

They can’t pass this guy up. Could be another Trout

Is he represented by Boras? Looked up the latest info on him. Nothing about an agent. I really don’t care who represents him. If he’s the best player in the draft, select him.

Remember when Bora$$ represented Pedro Alvarez and drug out his contract negotiation until the last possible moment? He insisted on a major league contract because Pedro was a special talent. It's really too bad about Alvarez, honestly. He COULD have been a special player. Big time thunder in his bat. Rocket arm. But led the league in errors like three times, got the yips and all of a sudden couldn't throw the ball across the diamond, and never could figure out how to hit off-speed pitches or lefties.

In this case, I'm glad for MLB's hard slotting rules. I suspect the Pirates draft Crews and he signs relatively quickly.

The MLB draft isn't much different than the others.  Sure Things aren't.

Case in point, that very draft.

Steven Strasburg- injury-prone.

Pedro Alvarez- Busted with two clubs that he should've had no problem staying with.  Over-rated.  He had a dimension.  Takes more than that at the highest level.  It wasn't just a problem with his defense.  The American League had the DH then.  He had difficulties on both sides of the plate.  He was Leroy Keyes- fantastic in college.

Two stars mentioned in this thread- Harper and Trout- have had troubles being available at times.

Take the best guys.  Hope they succeed.

Looks like the only competition Crews has at this point in time is his teammate Paul Skenes. Great looking P prospect . Odds are Crews goes 1 and Skenes 2.

I have been hoping they pick Crews upon reading some of the reports on him, but Wyatt Langford has been having an excellent season as well, so the Pirates may have a difficult decision to make in about two months.

Sounds good to me.  The way I see it, if there are two or more superior available players, you can't go wrong unless you fail to pick either.  It's not as if the choice is between a Peyton Manning and a Ryan Leaf.

If there are two Ken Griffey, Jrs....or, five of them,  take one.  You'll be fine.

The only way you can screw up is if you take the Ryan Leaf.

And, for God's sake, don't take anybody named "Johnny Baseball."

Please no Van Ben Scrotums or Moskos or Bullington or Peterson or Sanchez or Shon Walker :'(

When you look at Crews you can tell he`s a jerk. Those are the best types. Bonds,Harper,Cole etc.
