Today's Game - 4/26

Post by MaineBucs »

The Pirates' line-up for today's game is not yet posted on the official site, however, the Brewers line-up is shown.

Stunning that on a team that has a winning record, 10 - 7, that the highest batting average of any starter is .237, and that 5 of the 9 batters are hitting less than .200, including the first 3 batters in their line-up.

Gotta hope that Keller comes up big tonight.

That's because their starting pitching is LIGHTS OUT. Really, really good.

And we're probably going to see that first-hand tonight.

I'm afraid Keller will need to throw 6 shutout innings if he wants to depart with a tie game.

It’s hard to whip-up trust that Keller will succeed. He’s been consistent in only one way: he’s been mostly bad. Since he wasn’t a BC draft pick, it’ll be interesting to see how many more chances he’ll be given. He’s probably been hanging around this long because there’s so little starting pitching in Pittsburgh and in Indy.

Last year Keller followed every good game with a bad one. Let's hope he has a 2nd consecutive good game tonight. But this is why I always object to seeing him pulled at about the 5 inning mark when he's pitching well. He begins the next game without the confidence gained by being dominant into later innings and wondering if he was pulled "just in time." When a pitcher is cruising along and his manager suddenly pulls him it suggests the manager foresees a problem if he continues.

Take the Pirates + 20. Sounds like a sure thing.

Newman hitting 5th is mind-numbing.
