I really felt he would be an upgrade to their bullpen.

I figured he would be the first call up. With a young bullpen, you would think the Pirates would be a team to give him a shot in the majors.

Perhaps Siegrist hasn't seen Smoker pitch.

There appears to be a future path forward with the Pirates for him to ultimately get back to the majors, That said, he must believe that he should be in the majors now and that someone out there is ready to give him a roster spot.

I only saw Siegrist pitch one time this spring. I don't think he hit 90 mph even one time. So, if that is where he is at, it may not be much of a loss.

Ya know guys what I say about guys like Siegrist and his decision to become a FA rather than do some time in MiLB and see if he can build up his game again.

Kevin, on your way out the door don't let it hit you in the ass!

from PP:

UPDATE 10:30 AM: The Pirates issued a follow up statement this morning on Siegrist, saying that he is still with the team, but he is currently suspended due to not reporting to Indianapolis. We actually inquired about his suspension when we found out about it on Monday night, but got no answer. It turns out that he was suspended for not reporting to Indianapolis within the required time.

Siegrist had a clause in his contract that if a Major League team offered him a contract, the Pirates had to let him go if he didn’t make the Opening Day roster. That obviously didn’t happen and now he’s on the suspended list. So he is still with the Pirates for now, but he clearly wants a Major League job, which isn’t being offered by any of the 30 teams at this point.

His velocity is down. Suspension is interesting. Do the Pirates retain him on a technicality?

He is. I don't understand when you have the Lithuanian; Smoker and Santana with options remaining why you choose to send down Siegrist. He is better than all three of those cats.

That's right. This is not the Siegrist of a few years ago. The Pirates saw he wasn't ready but would like to hold onto him in AAA in hopes he can regain his old form.
