That didn't last long.
Good move, they got 2 for 1 in this deal!
They needed a roster spot. Probably hoping he clears waivers and can be outrighted to Indy. But obviously not too concerned if they lose him.
I saw that on MLBTRs Bobster. BC is going all out to load up on prospects, some of which are suspects. If he goes to Indy and has a bit of success maybe he could be filler in another deal to bring in more young players.
The four other general managers in our division are doing more for us than Cherington has just by not doing much for their own teams. Thank God for that.

But they have dumped those salaries? Musgrove was dumped three days after agreeing to a salary figure. Those salaries aren't on the books now as they were before.
The question is not whether salaries of traded players came off the books. Obviously they did. The term "salary dump" suggests motive. Were those trades made for the purpose of getting those salaries off the books? Or were they made in an attempt to use established players with MLB salaries as trading chips to acquire prospects to rebuild the organization? It's a fair debate to have. But I don't think it's fair to label every trade a salary dump merely because the salary went with the player.
