Best player to wear number 36: Ramon Hernandez. Honorable mention to Craig Wilson.
More cool names on that list (Heinie Manush, Mel Queen, Tom Butters), but one of my all time favorite names is Alvin O’Neal McBean.
I always thought Craig Wilson needed more of a chance but McLendon gave him little opportunity. And Kevin Young, in his last year or two, looked like he’d rather be anywhere else than on a baseball field. I was so happy when he was finally gone.

Manny never saw a pitch he didn’t like. What a fun hitter to watch.

Got his autograph at a game in 1970 I believe, maybe 1971.
I looked up his stats, for his career he walked 223 times but 96 of those were intentional.
He only struck out 331 times.

Striking out that infrequently shows what a great contact hitter he was because he had both a big swing and used a really big bat.

I didn't look this up but I bet he didn't get two strikes on him very much because he already put the ball in play.

He may be in the running for the record of fewest pitches seen in a career. Imagine him being on the recent Yankees or Red Sox teams, where long at bats is the strategy. They’d have never let him play.
