General useless facts/opinions about the top 40 poll

Post by psuinpgh21 »

With the poll winding up tonight and the regular season starting soon, let me know what you think of the results. Here are some facts and opinions.

Most votes received total 43 Jose Osuna

Received votes every round eligible (excluding the firstl 8)- Kingham (7th), Hearn (9th), Osuna (22nd), Kramer (25th), Gift (36th), Webb (37th)

Most votes, one round- 27, Mitch Keller, 4th

Least votes, winner- 4 (Alemais/Dickson, 32nd; Gift, 36th)

In too early? Most rounds with 0 votes before getting any: Will Craig (entered round 1, 1st vote round 6); Jared LaKind, (in round 29, first vote round 34). Note- this does not count the one player who as of yet has not received any votes and is still eligible for the #40 spot.

In too late? #36 Gift Ngoepe (entered round 34) or #37 Tyler Webb (entered round 35)

Longest lasting- Barrett Barnes (enter round 8, won round 27)

The original 8- Meadows (1st), Glasnow (2nd), Bell (3rd), Keller (4th), Newman (5th), Hayes (6th), Craig (10th), Brault (11th)

Guys who played in the majors last year- Glasnow, Bell, Brault, Diaz (12th), Hanson (13th), Williams (21st), Moroff (26th)

Likely to make MLB debut this year- Meadows, Santana (16th), Osuna (22nd), Neverauskas (24th), Gift (36),Webb (37)

Could make MLB debut but never considered for the poll- Danny Ortiz, Chris Bostick

Still prospect eligible but not rookies- Pat Light (still in poll), Jacob Stallings, Casey Sadler

Could be considered for next year- Austin Shields, Pedro Vasquez, Jake Brentz, Cam Vieaux, Blake Cederlind, Michael DeLaCruz, Mitchell Tolman, Jordan George, James Marvel

Of course I could be wrong about all that.

Who do you think is too highly ranked/too low? Who will rocket up (onto) the charts with their performance this year? Who will disappoint?

This is the top 39+ so far.

General useless facts/opinions about the top 40 poll

a few I see that I think we missed on.

22. Jose Osuna (is Jin-De Jhang better??)

30. Travis McGregor (I thought he was to be pretty good?)

35. Jordan Luplow (I think he'll be a David Freese type player, which isn't all that bad)

Well, I voted for McGregor for many rounds before he got in- he's not a power pitcher, not big K numbers, so that could be why he was lower.

Luplow, had he stayed at 3B last year, probably would have come in higher, but his numbers weren't as good and he played corner OF.

I'm high on Jin-De, but was always higher on Osuna. Then again, last year I was surprised that Adam Frazier, a guy with no position or power, was voted so high.
