Show him some love and tell him we need a vet to lead the pitching staff.

Give him $5 mill for next season. Low pressure situation for him, could bring out the best. Need a solid vet to lead they way for others.

Hell bucs pissed away that much on Polanco , Tai , Evans etc etc.

Get him now and make him feel wanted .Nothing came easy for this guy . He just dogged it out and got better .

Young guys can learn from him if he wants to share /teach.

Yes he is a Prick , but so was AJ and everyone became accountable when he arrived.

the Bucs need somebody they have developed to turn into an Arrieta. Jake was lousy in Baltimore and found success with Cubs when he was 27. Doubtful if Brubaker or Mitch K. can have a big turnaround like Jake but somewhere along the line the Bucs need to develop at least 3 pitchers that are as good as Jake in his good years.

Agree....but, that's also got to continue, like an assembly line.

Pitchers, even when good, pay rent in The Burgh. They don't have mortgages.

definitely will have to be a pipeline. If they do develop them they will need to be traded off, shelf live in Pittsburgh is only 4 or 5 years.

Nothing wrong with taking a flier on a guy like him. I liken the move similar to Burnett as it was mentioned earlier in this thread. I mean we bring in every has been, could have been, wish they were anyway, why not this guy? People thought Burnett was washed up too. Might work or it might not. Does it matter? No. We will be lucky to win 70 next year anyway, we need some pitchers that have an idea what the hell they are doing. Arrieta does. Maybe he passes on some knowledge to the youngsters as they come up from the minors next year. Anyway, I support the move.
