Well, the things you learn when you're up late. So if you go to the Pirates site, and look at the schedule, all the home dates have TBD for start time. HOWEVER, if you go to "mini plans" and select them, they have the starting times listed for the games already!!!
Is there anything this franchise can get right? Oh, and while I'm on the subject of "mini-plans"
My half season plan saw my store discount drop from 20 percent to 15 percent. (I believe I mentioned this before, it's almost as if Frank Coonelly was back as president, because as the Bucs improved from 2011 on for a few years, so did the drop in bennies to the loyal STH's. Kind of a "thank you suckers") Well, looking at the "perks" of having a mini plan, if you have one 7-10 games you also get a store discount. Of 15 percent. Same as the people shelling out for 41 games.
As this will be something I pass along to my season ticket rep who I'm sure already hates me and I'm probably the butt of jokes as a "whiner", I know it will never actually reach a level where someone will actually have the audacity to say, "you know, something isn't quite right here."
A couple things I'd like to comment on here, Surge. First, a few weeks back you mentioned that some posters (admittedly I'm one of them) were basically high jacking (my word, not yours) some threads with their complaints about Nutting. I understood your frustration, but what you posted above is the point we make each time we bring him into the conversation: the Pirates are a business to Nutting, whereby maximizing profit and/or minimizing losses is the first priority, and always will be. Winning baseball games, or championships, isn't the purpose of his initial and continuing investment in the franchise. Virtually every decision made by management is based on money, not winning.
Second, some would say that other clubs do what Nutting does, too. I'm certain that's true. But, at the same time, he doesn't have to do those things. He could take the high road and treat his customers much better than what you've described over the years. But he can bleed the fans, especially the STH, year after year knowing we'll keep coming back because of our love for the team and the game.
He's an oligarch who's learned during his ownership that we need his team more than he needs us.
