I could believe that with some teams. However it is pretty hard to include the word brilliant in any sentence regarding the Pirates.
In 1972 Steve Carlton won 27 games for the Phillies, who won only a total of 59. Maybe next year Skenes can win 27 even if the team only wins 59. :D

Rabelo strikes again. Sends slow, sore-kneed Cutch on a single to shallow LF and he's out by 10 feet. I guess he thought that was better than having bases loaded and 2 outs.

Since the beginning of July thru tonight, Keller has 5 quality starts in 14 games. He has an ERA in that period of 5.54 including 15 HRs in 74.2 innings. After tonight he will be 2-7 during that period.

At least Yorke got a rest tonight. After 4 games he must be exhausted.

Pirate highlights:

Cruz HR for a 20/20 season.

Mattson 2 perfect innings.

Joe Block did a fine job announcing the game. Usually, I'd rather listen to the "1-877-Kars For Kids" commercial which, I'm sure we'll all agree, is the worst use of broadcast airwaves in Earth history. But tonight Block just did a fine job. No discussions of irrelevant topics. He actually sounded like a professional baseball announcer. Focused on the game instead of trying to filibuster to fill every minute of airtime with his voice. Maybe it was just because Kevin Young's voice was putting him to sleep. But whatever the reason, Block did a fine job.
