Not only does he not cause problems for management, but he seems like Cherington's lackey. I don't believe Shelton has much say in who plays or possibly even the lineup. That's why both he and Cherington must go. If Cherington stays and Shelton is fired, it will only be to appease the fans (and maybe the local media). But any replacement would only operate the same way under Cherington: using analytics to make game decisions prior to the game, prioritizing rest, position flexibility and everybody gets to play. This is Cherington's way. He's not going to hire a Terry Francona who will tell him to go shove his graphs and spreadsheets and let him manage the team.

Now that icantwatch has been proven correct, I am sure that the players
are elated. Now they can continue jogging to bases and continue with
their half hearted effort

We can still hope that Cherington gets fired. A new GM would fire Shelton.

I do remember that in 2019 Hurdle had been given assurances that he would be
back in 2020. Hopefully that trend continues with Shelton

The question remains...what exactly is Shelton's contract worth and how long is it for?

Won't be fired. Pirates will close out season strong and hopes will soar for next season.
