Official Game Thread - 8/24 - Bucs vs Reds

Post by Possum »

Game Time: 6:40, Weather beautiful.

Reds

1 2B J. India R
2 SS E. De La Cruz S
3 C T. Stephenson R
4 CF TJ Friedl L
5 LF S. Steer R
6 1B Ty France R
7 DH D. Smith L
8 3B S. Espinal R
9 RF Will Benson L
SP Julian Aguiar R

Bucs

1 2B I. Kiner-Falefa R
2 DH B. Reynolds S
3 SS Oneil Cruz L
4 C Joey Bart R
5 1B Rowdy Tellez L
6 RF B. De La Cruz R
7 LF B. McKinney L
8 3B Jared Triolo R
9CF Ji Hwan Bae L
SP Jake Woodford R

Will this be a bullpen game? Maybe Woodford will get us through 5 innings. McKinney in LF takes some heat off Reynolds in LF. McKinney is a fielding wizard. Okay Shelty find a way to screw up this game.

As long as Grandal is not in the line-up I am happy.

Grandal can hit, would rather he be DH, Reynolds in left, McKinney in CF.

That is absolutely their best lineup then.

Don't know if any watching the Little League World Series but it's pretty good. You can tell these kids watch MLB. They emulate the things they do. Funny who the hero's are to a some of these kids. Some have been deceased for 20 years.

Sweep em Bucs!

Sorry but the kid for Florida saw the pitcher was not paying attention and stole home. Awesome!

Grandal has quietly been contributing. Since July 5 he's hit.281 with 4 HRs. That covers 16 games in which he started. He hit safely in 11 of those 16 including 4 multi-hit games. Prior to July 5 he was hitting .171. So it's hard to think of him as a hitter. I think we goaded him into hitting by criticizing him. We deserve all the credit! ;)

Great ceremony. Brought a tear to my eye. Barry got loudest cheers and the "Barry!Barry!" Chant going. Will probably be on website. Special first pitch:
Leyland threw to Shelton
Bonds threw to Cutch
Manny threw to Blass.
