Andy's coming back in 2024
Cherrington announced today that hitting coach Andy Haines is coming back for the 2024 season.
Let's Go Bucs
Re: Andy's coming back in 2024
Golly, that sounds swell.
I believe Haines is enacting what Cherington's analytics dept comes up with. So Cherington doesn't see the problem and is happy with him.

I hope he is not back in 2025. It is time for him to go.

I see today where Seattle fired their manager. They were in contention, they fell out. Hmmm.

Sounds like the Seattle GM has a clue. If only.....

Seattle 2024 is Pittsburgh Pirates 2016.
We won 98 games in 15, then went cheap instead of filling in the holes with the right moves in the offseason. Why? Well we like to say the owner is cheap. But it was pretty clear that year that our team is run like a business for profit - and is not run to be a winner. The result was 75 wins in 16.
Mariners won 90 games in 22, then 88 last year and the GM went to ownership and was told they had no money to really fill the holes. Their ownership is this conglomerate of who knows who that own 90% of the team - Nintedo owns 10%. Their market is huge - no reason to not spend. But ownership is cheap and it is run like a business for profit.
So is Servias bad? Maybe. But their ownership sucks just like ours and is not willing to do what it takes to win.

Re: Andy's coming back in 2024
That moves Shelty up another notch. He's now the 11th longest tenured manager in MLB. One more, and he's in the top ten! How can he move up further?
In the NL, Bud Black is probably the only candidate to get his walking papers, he's been on a year to year contract now for 2 seasons. Bell and Martinez have contracts through 2026, can't see them going anywhere. Lovullo and Snitker obviously aren't going anywhere. However, Dave Roberts is signed through 2025, if the Dodgers get an early bounce, I can see them eating 3.25 million with ease.
In the AL, if the Yankees don't make a run to the WS, I predict Aaron Boone is gone, he has a club option for 2025. AJ Hinch is signed through 2026, so I think the Tigers hold on to him for at least another season. Rocco Baldelli's contract was extended for an unspecified amount of years after club picked up his 23-24 options. Kevin Cash is signed through 2030. Brandon Hyde isn't going anywhere.
So, if the Bucs don't fire Shelty, and the Dodgers and Yankees don't make a run, probably a World Series run, I predict Shelty will move up into the top ten.
Arent' we blessed?

That was a year ago. Let's hope he doesn't make the same mistake for 2025.
