Official Game Thread - 8/21 - Bucs @ Rangers

Post by Possum »

Bucs

1 2B I. Kiner-Falefa R
2 LF B. Reynolds S
3 DH Joey Bart R
4 1B Connor Joe R
5 RF B. De La Cruz R
6 SS Oneil Cruz L
7 3B Jared Triolo R
8 C Y. Grandal S
9 CF M. Taylor R
SP Domingo German R

Rangers

1 2B M. Semien R
2 SS Corey Seager L
3 C Jonah Heim S
4 DH A. Garcia R
5 1B N. Lowe L
6 3B Josh Jung R
7 LF W. Langford R
8 RF T. Jankowski L
9 CF L. Taveras S
SP Andrew Heaney L

An all-righty lineup except for O. Cruz which is okay other than Grandal playing C. Despite the hitters Shelty starting German seems like they are tanking.

Again, not upset about who is in the lineup, rather, where they are hitting. Move Connor Joe down below Grandal, and move all the rest of them up.

Grandal has been doing well at the plate this month, but I'd be reluctant to use him as the DH. He has to catch at some point. Why Joe keeps getting those AB's high in the order is beyond me, he hasn't hit since May. BDLC is starting to hit, and you have Joe ahead of him?

German going today bites, but they don't really have anyone to bring up. Skipping Skenes a day not sure that makes any sense. He should go his next two starts. They can skip over his next scheduled start against Cleveland, and then go with a 6 man rotation once Sept 1 hits because presumably Jones should be ready, and they can slide him down the rotation, essentially eliminating a couple of starts. They can do the same thing with the next off day in September.

I get that they want to be careful with his arm, but I think there's a better way to do it, then not having him pitching to take the series today.

All good thoughts to German

In a perfect world Bucs would be competitive and have all day games. I love day baseball. Two guys on another board live on the West Coast. Love the afternoon games.
