Who was the goof upthread who said that the Bucs we’re going to win this game?

Jackson Merrill joins the long list of Pirates killers. Why don’t we have a guy like him?

Hard as it is to believe, there have been some bright spots among the position players this season. Joey Bart has been a wonderful acquisition. I hope he’s not a one-year wonder. Nick Gonzales has shown he’s more than capable. Reynolds is having the kind of year he’s supposed to have. McCutchen has been better than I thought he’d be, (but I don’t think he should be brought back). IK-F is solid but what position will he (or Gonzales) play in the future?

I'm thinking about going forward, who are "hims" are.

Cutch, IKF, Bart, Reynolds. There's literally no one else right now on the Major League roster in that dugout other than these four guys that I would miss if they were traded or cut after the season is over. I'll take Nick Gonzales when he's healthy.

Ben C. traded for hope at the deadline. I can't even remember how many deals he made, four? five? So far IKF is only one that has provided any help. Instead of rallying the team and playing well they have totally tanked.

There are so many question marks on this team now that trying to improve for next year depends on luck (maybe that is the Bucco plan every year).

This losing streak has turned this season into one of the most disappointing ones of the past few years. This was the season the team was supposed to show it had the talent to be at least a playoff contender next year. Now they may end up with another top ten draft pick.

Right, those are the five positional guys who I mentioned, although I’m not sold on McCutchen returning.

Its not like this season was derailed by injuries either. It is from poor player performance. As Sam Spade says, somebody has to take the fall.

If they bring Cutch back, he has to learn to play first, pure and simple. He'll just get hurt playing the outfield. He has to have some sort of position to put him at other than DH.

IKF is having probably the best season of his career. That said, the bar isn't very high if you look at his time in the majors. He won a Gold Glove with the Rangers one year, but he has never really been an offensive threat. What is that you guys see that I am missing? Not knocking the acquisition, but he was a last minute trade at the cost of a productive minor league hitter in McAdoo, which are in short supply in our farm system.

Bases loaded, no outs, three of the next four strikeout, two of them looking.
