Ortiz opens the first with a walk and HBP. Then a 1 hopper back to Ortiz who throws to 2B to start a DP. One problem. Cruz drops the throw. Bases loaded but Bae makes a diving catch in CF as runner tags and scores from 3B. A 5-3 DP ends the inning at 1-0. Cruz is an absolute butcher in the field. Didn’t help to open the inning with a walk and a HBP.

Tellez opens the 2nd by turning a double into a single. Opposite shot down LF line. Took awhile for LFer to reach it. Tellez jogged slowly to 1B.

Pirates out-hitting the Padres, 5-0.

But trailing, 1-0.

Classic Pirates.

King gets a lot of strike outs. Hard to believe he has spent most of his career in the bullpen.

Just reading the box score. Damn, you can't strikeout 15x per game.

Billy Cook AAA is on fire give him a shot. Release Joe who hasn`t hit in 2.5 months

Bae was outstanding in CF including a leaping catch over the wall to rob a HR. But otherwise the team appeared listless and defeated from the start. A senseless Cruz error in the first set up the first run. Tellez appeared disinterested in playing with a very noticeable lack of hustle at least 3 different times. Anyone who says the team doesn’t quit on Shelton didn’t see that game.

It would have been very possible for the Pirates to take a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning. Tellez’s leisurely stroll to first base as his hit was going down the left field line prevented him from being at 2B, where he could have scored on a single by DLC. And SD likely would not have scored in the first if Cruz had not inexplicably failed to catch a throw from Ortiz on what should have been the beginning of a double play.

I blame myself for this losing streak. I should have never put up the line-up for that game. Ever since we have sucked.

And kudos to those of you that find them interesting knowing the Playoff hope died. Enjoy rest of season! I'll be back to collect my reward when they win 74 games.

Bucs trying match the White Sox. At least the White Sox
fired their manager!
Can't justify Shelton returning next year. Hell, can't justify
him finishing out this season

Quote from Shelton after last nights loss
" We need a break and we aren't getting them now"
Shortstop doesn't catch a ball thrown right to him
Tellez doesn't run hard to First Base adfter hitting a ball down the line to left
and only gets a single
Bucs strike out 15 time
Now tell me about catching a break
