For as much damage as Holderman is doing to this team, Bednar isn't much better. 5.17 ERA. Scored upon in 3 straight outings (just 2 less than Holderman), 4 of his last 6 games and 6 of his last 11 games. A career high 7 HRs allowed in only 38.1 innings. His highest WHIP and lowest K rare of his Pirate career. 4 blown saves already in 41 games. Last year he had 3 in 66 games.
There's no basement in the Alamo.

not good. Bednar made the All Star game in 2023 and 2022. In late June it looked like Holderman was a candidate for the 2024 team.

It now looks like the Pirates should not try and get a multi-year contract with either of them.
