Re: MLB Draft
Five more Pirates draft choices signed today, but they still haven’t locked up their #1 and #2 picks. It looks like those two picks will go down to the wire.
Re: MLB Draft
Yep, the two HS SS's are the holdouts. Maybe Sanford is the backup plan? Hope they get both.fjk090852-7 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 11:24 pm Five more Pirates draft choices signed today, but they still haven’t locked up their #1 and #2 picks. It looks like those two picks will go down to the wire.

Konnor Griffin will sign and be introduced at a press conference today at 11:30.
There's no basement in the Alamo.

Thanks for catching that, Bobster. Glad he's on board - https://x.com/JMackeyPG/status/1818673374974943379

Re: MLB Draft
Griffin signed for $6,532,025, which is above the slot value for No. 9 overall at $6,216,600. His bonus put the Pirates $680,025 over their draft pool. Because they went over their bonus pool by less than 5%, they’ll be fined an additional $510,019 for the overage amount. I can't believe that BN would spend a half million in fines for being above slot value.
Let's Go Bucs

Brian Curley (Round 16 - college RHP) and Taylor Penn (Round 20 - HS RHP) will probably not be signing.
Doesn't look like the Pirates will sign any UDFA's either.
