I hope Skenes has the K-ball going, because he doesn't exactly have the best defensive unit backing him today. He also better be able to go 7-8 innings today, because of the complete bullpen mismanagement between Cherington and Shelton, the bullpen is short by more than just the one dude who isn't here so TellezTubby has a roster spot. You can scratch Holderman and Mlodzinski today. You can pretty much rest assured Chapman should only be in for mop up. Bednar can only be used for a save situation. That leaves Stratton, Ortiz, and Nicolas to possibly have to negotiate 2-4 innings.

Lawd help us if this goes extras again. This has to be a game where Skenes is Skenes, and the Pirates treat his mound opponent like AAA fodder. The Bucs have to win this game to split the season series. That should already have been in the bag, with Skenes going to take the series. That's how the tiebreakers work now folks. The Giants have an opportunity now to win the series.

Yes, these early games mean a lot more than people realize.
