Give Gorski An Opportunity

I think it might be time to add Matt Gorski to the 40 man roster, and bring him to Pittsburgh. Yes he does strikeout a lot, but for the past 3 seasons he has hit over 20 homers. Possibly the current regime keeps him in the minors because he was a draft choice by the former regime. If that is a reason why he has not yet come to Pittsburgh, that is stupid. Give him an opportunity before he ends up with another team, and performs well.

why not? Only ten of players on Indy roster are 25 or younger. Not like we have a lot of young high ceiling players knocking at the door.

Can't hurt. As of this morning, the Pirates are last in the NL with a .198 batting average
and also last with a .301 slugging percentage. Where is Andy Haines?

There was always a belief (or at least suspicion) that Haines' job was to implement Cherington's hitting strategy of taking pitches to drive up pitch counts and that if Haines were to be replaced, the new batting coach would have to do the same. The Pirates are currently 2nd in MLB striking out 125 times. Boston is #1 with 126. So it appears the Pirates are still taking a lot of strikes. OTOH, it could just be that it they aren't doing that deliberately but just aren't very good at hitting. I tend to believe it's the latter. Even with a team BA of .198, Reynolds is the only one who's hitting substantially below expectations. Cutch is at a respectable .267 and Bart and IKF are hitting better than expected. In fact, if we take Cutch, Bart and IKF out of the equation, their teammates are batting .173. All winter we wondered who on this team is going to hit. Cherington added only Frazier and Pham and said they expected internal improvement. So the strategy was to just sit back and hope things got better. I hope Cherington has a Plan B.

Bobster, Bobster, Bobster, you couldn't be more wrong. Nutting gave his Front Office everything he could this offseason, and they worked like dogs to build a championship team. He said so himself. So don't you be saying that hope was the plan after the 2024 season. That organization never rested from September through March because the management was so driven to bring a title to the Clemente logo-loving and Bucco Brick-loving Pirates fans. And don't you forget it.

You’re right, Doc. What was I thinking? Nutting has provided the team everything they need. He said so himself!

This team needs a spark bring up Gorski, and Yorke. Send down Suwinski, and designate Bae so Gorski can get on the roster.

Your sentiments on this topic are one’s from a person who wants to win, so don’t expect the Pirates to do anything you’re suggesting.
