Official Game Thread - 9/29 - Bucs @ Yankees

Post by Possum »

Bucs

1 2B N. Gonzales R
2 DH B. Reynolds S
3 CF Oneil Cruz L
4 C Joey Bart R
5 LF J. Palacios L
6 3B Jared Triolo R
7 RF Nick Yorke R
8 1B Billy Cook R
9 SS L. Peguero R
SP Bailey Falter L

Yankees

1 2B G. Torres R
2 CF Aaron Judge R
3 LF J. Dominguez S
4 DH G. Stanton R
5 3B Jon Berti R
6 RF Alex Verdugo L
7 SS A. Volpe R
8 1B Ben Rice L
9 C Jose Trevino R
SP Clarke Schmidt R

If you compare both lineups you can see that the Bucs don't have enough superstar players. That's because the Yankees spend a ton of money on players and have a management team that knows how to scout and develop players. It's going to be an interesting off-season as we see what direction Nutting will go concerning the Bucs management.

Surprised Shelton didn’t rest Gonzales today. I think this will be his fifth straight game.

As for what Nutting might do regarding his management team, I’m guessing not much. If Shelton isn’t fired within the next few days, there will likely only be minor moves that will end-up making little difference next year.

Let's Go Bucs!!!

Hard to believe they'll keep this one delayed too long, there is absolutely nothing for either team to play for, other than the Pirates moving to 4th, which they currently are at with the tiebreaker over Cincy

IKF was due a $250,000 plate appearance bonus, but sat out to give Peguero more playing time.

If this is rained out, does that mean the team had a better year (by percentage points) than last year? And more to the point, who wins the prediction poll? Should Bobster and Javy have to come back tomorrow for a makeup match?

Wildwood asked me on the phone why the game started so late. Block said on the radio that MLB made that decision for all teams.

Bombers take 2-0 lead only to see the Bucs get two back on a Palacios double and a third run on a Triolo sac fly.
