Lenny Randle passes away. He was a favorite among us kids because of "the bunt". That was exacting revenge in a unique way.

RIP Lenny

Lenny Randle would've made a heck of a safety. He was as hardnosed - and maybe even as hardheaded - as any player of our lifetime.
Did you notice in the video how the two umpires backed away as the fight progressed? They wanted no part of that.

You could tell the entire stadium was waiting for something to happen. The players were almost already there when Randle floored the pitcher. One of the better brawls, some real fighting went on.

Randle also once attacked his own manager. Frank Luchessi.

Veale was part of the teams I started growing up with. One of our favorites. Of course, we all remember him being part of the "Most Delicious Bullpen" with Lamb and Moose.

Thank you for the memories Bob Veale, RIP

September 30, 1964: the Reds entered its game against the Pirates in a tie for first place with the Cardinals. Veale threw 12.1 innings of shutout ball, struck out 16, as the Pirates beat the Reds, 1-0 in 16 innings:

Veale was a terrific pitcher for several years. RIP
