Official Game Thread - 7/7 - Bucs vs Mets

Post by Possum »

Mets

SS F. Lindor S
CF B. Nimmo L
DH J. Martinez R
1B Pete Alonso R
C F. Alvarez R
RF DJ Stewart L
3B Mark Vientos R
LF Jeff McNeil L
2B J. Iglesias R
SP Sean Manaea L

Bucs

DH A. McCutchen R
LF B. Reynolds S
1B Connor Joe R
2B N. Gonzales R
3B K. Hayes R
RF E. Olivares R
SS Jared Triolo R
C Joey Bart R
CF M. Taylor R
SP Luis Ortiz R

My only grip is that I would have Gonzales and Triolo switch fielding positions. Just another one of Shelty's head-scratching lineups.
Let's Go Bucs

My only problem with the lineup is that Hayes, Olivares, Triolo, Bart and Taylor should all be batting 9th.

Can't see it but hope for the best. I got a bad feeling Skenes first MLB loss will be in beautiful Milwaukee.

I'll say this for Pirate fans , they stay loyal. Amazing crowds.

They've done this since Gonzo came up, and I always questioned it too. However, Triolo has Hayes on the same side of the field as him, and has less ground to need to cover. Gonzo ranges all over, so especially if Tellez is at first, he uses that range more effectively where it's needed more.

Just my guess.

I think they see Triolo as a super-sub and they want Gonzales to be the everyday 2Bman instead of making him a guy they move out of position to fill holes as needed. Gonzales probably has more range at SS than Triolo but, as you noted, Hayes helps cover ground on that side and Gonzales helps cover ground on the 1B side.
