Official Game Thread - 7/3 - Buc vs Cards

Post by Possum »

Cards

SS Masyn Winn R
RF A. Burleson L
C W. Contreras R
1B P. Goldschmidt R
LF B. Donovan L
3B N. Arenado R
DH B. Crawford L
2B Nolan Gorman L
CF M. Siani L
SP Miles Mikolas R

Bucs

DH A. McCutchen R
LF B. Reynolds S
SS Oneil Cruz L
RF E. Olivares R
1B Rowdy Tellez L
2B N. Gonzales R
3B K. Hayes R
C Joey Bart R
CF J. Suwinski L
SP Jared Jones R

It looks like Suwinski saved his job with his big night last night. It seems that Joshua Palacios was to be called up for today's game and Suwinski sent down. So Cherrington handicaps Shelton with players that can't win. Cherrington is a comedian in fancy clothing.

I failed to comment about DeLay being sent down. Grandal ( Mr. Catcher Interference-3 times this year)
is a total waste. Again, Cherrington not wanting to admit he made a mistake. I am afraid the season is slip-sliding
away.

Bucs have 2 hits thru 4 innings vs Mikolas and his 5+ ERA. I guess Shelton is preparing his standard praise for the opposing pitcher. Pirates have 6 batters below .240 in the lineup.

Olivares bats cleanup.

1-0 Cardinals. There goes our hope for a 0-0 tie.

JOnes is clearly a Buc. Feels the pressure of having to throw a shutout, gives up a 2 out, 2strike single to score a run.

Does anyone else sometimes get the feeling that a lot of these guys are just going through the motion?

How good of a pitch is Hayes looking for that he'll swing at the third pitch on his hands, but not the second one right down the middle of the plate? A pitch he should have drove easily?

At least he gets the ground out RBI. But we need better than that from him.

1-1. Hayes with a clutch weak grounder to SS to score Tellez from 3B.
