The Other Games 2024

Post by Surgnbuck »

Getting a late start on this thread, which I think I've started for the last couple of years. Always been a good place to mention goings on in other games that don't really fit into our GDT's, the Roster thread, etc.

I mentioned in one of the GDT that I noticed throughout MLB that the prop HR celebrations seemed to be gone, and for that I am happy. However, last night the Mariners showed they are hanging on, still using the trident celebration.

I'm not all "Okay, Boomer" about celebrations and such, but props take it too far. Every generation there has been over the top celebrations at times, but usually when it meant "win". Like Maz's dash around the bases. The problem with celebrations today, too many do a Maz Dash in the first inning, or in the 8th inning when they brought their team a run closer in a 10-2 loss.

And MLB is tame compared to the NBA and NFL!

3 NL East teams matched up against 3 NL Central teams to open the season.

Looks like it will be a two team race in the East. The NL Central goes 9-1 versus Miami, Washington, and New York.

Cincy goes to Philly, the Pirates go to Washington. That's a lot of games between two divisions to start the season.

Those poor guys, having to play baseball everyday for eight straight days. Oh, the humanity.

They just lost 3 out of 4 to the Dodgers.

We just played the Fish, so you're familiar with the stadium right now. Check the mlb page for Trout's HR. Unreal

Both Chicago teams were playing at home today, the start times about 10 minutes apart. Yet, the game in Wrigley went the whole 9 innings, the South Siders game was rain shortened

We have the season's first no hitter as Houston's Ronel Blanco no hits Toronto.

That was fast! I'm guessing that in the history of MLB someone threw a no-no opening day.??
