That's a surprise. I thought they'd decided to keep everyone. But I think it has to be good news for base running. I thought he was terrible two years ago, then decided I didn't know the whole story when I saw he was being considered by the Padres as manager. My faith in my eyesight has been slightly restored.

Sofield can still be a future Manager. He just wasn't very good at coaching third.

I am going to guess that Joey Cora will be named one of the new Pirate coaches. Cora managed the Curve team this past season so he is already a part of the organization. I think Cora did coach third base under Ozzie Guillen a few years ago.

Maybe. But he sometimes displayed such incredibly poor judgment as a coach that it makes me wonder if his judgment in general is not right for a manager.

According to Pirate Prospects Joey Cora will be named the new Bucs third base coach. That was a lucky guess on my part. I did think the Pirates were very happy with Cora as the Curve manager this past season.
