Almost 30 million a year in years 2-4 of his new 4 year contract with the Mets. The average ML Payroll continues to move upwards by leaps and bounds.

Now we know why McCutchen might be traded.



Geeezuz is that a lot of money for a guy over 30 who has only hit 30+ HRs twice in his career (of course, the last two years).



This really sucks for a small market team.

All the more reason for a salary cap ala the NFL and the NHL. And true revenue sharing like the NFL.

Yep, but baseball is too afraid of the Union to fight them on anything. I just see my ticket prices going up too.

Possum, like you I am one of the older guys on here and complete revenue sharing might bring back the game of baseball we grew up with but unfortunately I do not see that ever coming back.
