Had a bone removed from his knee today. 2 to 4 week recovery time.

This is very unfortunate because he is going to miss much if not all of spring training. He will miss out on workouts at first base as well as the games which are not as important as the games when the season begins.

I have often wondered why athletes in many instances wait until their season opener is close to have surgeries instead of taking care of these surgeries early in the off season.

Um, spring training starts in basically two weeks. As he is only out two to four weeks, he could be back for the opening of spring training, or they could go slowly with him and keep his use restricted for a few weeks. Either way, he gets almost all of spring training and does not miss any of the regular season.

He may miss the start of ST but it will be a bit longer this year due to the WBC tournament. Who knows he may come back before the 4 weeks time.

I assume it just happened. Reported he hurt it in off season work outs. He will still have five weeks of Spring Training if he needs all for weeks to recover.

Bell is beginning to hit off a tee today. Sounds like he will miss very little playing time this spring training.
