IMHO, he is the key to our season, more so even than Cutch and Cole. Marte needs to have a big year, and stay healthy. I believe that he can. I want to see better power numbers from him, too. The ball jumps off his bat. When he barrels one up, he has as much thunder in his bat as anyone in the lineup. I think 20 dingers is a real possibility for him.

Marte is a unique talent. He's our best defensive player at any position by a wide margin and his switch to CF should significantly improve our outfield defense. Unlike many others I don't expect to see any big change in power production from him. This will be his 6th MLB season and in all five of his previous ones his slugging percentage has been within the narrow range of .431 (rookie) to .456 (2016). If he continues to hit .300, steal 40 bases, slug .450, and play gold glove defense he won't be Willie Mays but he'll be an All-Star which is plenty good enough.

i am excited to see how he changes the running game in CF. More balls are hit to CF than any other outfield position. His arm is top five in all of baseball.



His bat needs to improve. He needs to add more power. He needs to add more doubles and hopefully a bobble can lead to a triple. He has the ability to be a huge impact when he bats.

He's 28, so I'm hoping for a great year out of him.
