I just read that Polanco will dh tomorrow and possibly all three games in Boston. I hope his shoulder is not going to be a problem this season. Without Kang they will need a strong season from Polanco.

It looks like Frazier is going to play left field at least in the opener and Polanco will be the DH which I am fine with. I like having Frazier's bat in the lineup and I personally think he should be starting everyday over Harrison at 2nd base and batting leadoff for this team.

Very true. I think th Bucs are kinda "stuck with Jaso." He's no longer the1B man and is not versatile. And provides no power off the bench. And at age 33, it's not as if he has a future with the team. He's only on the roster because they owe him 4 million for 2017. I suspect NH has worked the phones unsuccessfully to find any sort of trade partner. Maybe when a team has an injury during the season they might take him and his remaining salary (and 2 prospects? ) as a replacement. Osuna would have more value to the Bucs but they won't eat 4 million.

I think he still has usefulness though. He still has a good approach at the plate (though no power obv). It's not like he's the absolute zero people make him out to be.
Just not sure about the "we're stuck with him because we owe him four million dollars" issue when this organization has shown time and time again that that is not an impediment if they decide that they no longer want a player on the team.
How many players do they need to cut in order to bring an end to that narrative?

I know they cut a useless Wandy Rodriguez and his 13 mill contract a few years ago but they still toss around nickels like manhole covers. They gave up 2 of their top 10 prospects to avoid paying 13 million this year to Liriano. Their "thriftiness' is well documented. I suspect that they might have eaten a lesser contract for Jaso but don't want to cut him loose at 4 mil at least for awhile until they see if any sort of deal can be had. He's a decent LH PHer but serves little purpose beyond that. Last year they often replaced him in late innings for defense so it seems crazy (but not impossible) that he would go in for defense for Bell. Looking at the roster he's the one guy who stands out has serving the least purpose. I suspect that if he was making 1.5 mil or less, he would already be gone. I doubt he's still on the roster by season's end.

I think they just (correctly or not) believe that he still has something to contribute to the team. People were saying very similar things about Sean Rodriguez a year ago at this time and it turned out the staff was right.
I do think that you're right in that with some turnover this season that he'll be moving on before long.
