And the poll comes to an end. I enjoyed it immensely, hopefully next year I can do it again, and we can get a little more participation. Thank you to everyone who voted, nominated their favorites, commented and participated this year. Former top draft pick Wyatt Mathison gets the #39 spot.

The #40 prospect for 2017
A lot of hot starts from guys that were viewed as middling prospects coming into the season (20+ ranked).
Kramer, Escobar, Eppler & Espinal specifically. We've been seeing a lot of Pirate hitters start to emerge at the higher levels (Frazier, Moroff & Osuna). Escobar looks like another WV breakout pitcher, he'll be another top 100 MLB prospect if he keeps pitching like this. Kramer and Eppler may never reach that status, but your production still counts in the MLB even if you weren't ranked by BA as a top 100 prospect. (Frazier).

The #40 prospect for 2017
Kramer has reached base in 15 out of 15 games
had a hit in all but one of them.
a game where he went 0-1 official ab's and had a walk.

The #40 prospect for 2017
I was going to give a stat update at the first of the month or so. Bell got his 1 AB and is no longer considered a rookie, so he would be off the poll, as would Tyler Webb, who was returned to the Yankees. Obviously Osuna and Dovydas have made their big league debuts. Hard to judge minor league pitchers after only 3 starts or so, but James Marvel, Cam Vieaux, Pedro Vasquez and Alex McRae are off to good starts. Ty Moore, Trae Arbet and Logan Hill are hot at the dish.

Yeah lot of hot starts
Especially those AA mid relievers
Kevin Kramer has reached base safely in every game this year and had hits in all but two of them.

The #40 prospect for 2017
#35 -- Jordan Luplow is starting to heat up -- 9-for-22 (.409) in the last six games. He really struggled in the Florida State League last year after a strong showing in 2015. Our #3 pick in the 2014 draft, I'd love to see him find his stroke this year and put a little more shine on his prospect status. Gap power, good BB to K ratio, he needs a break out year to establish himself.
