0-0 through 2.2 for Kuhl...



Not a horrible Sunday lineup today...honestly, if Jordy doesn't start hitting it will be him playing in Sunday's, not Gift

Gift is striking out so much right now. Compared to Mercer, he has almost the same amount of Ks in one third of the at bats.



Mercer is disappointing this year. I thought he would breakout a little this year since his arbitration years are approaching. He should hit at least .260, 12 HR, 60 RBI.

Except he's been terrible...Gifts glove is so good that it's getting close on who provides the most value...

Mercer is still hitting better than Gift and his defense is very good. Gift is batting .150 in May.



Gift can knock in a run right here. Kuhl pitched well, but is due up.

Neal definitely opened the possibility that Gift stays in Pittsburgh long term.

Gift and Osuna couldn't get the run in from second and then third respectively. Our own offense chased Kuhl after 82 pitches. I might have left Kuhl in for at least one more inning even with the top of the order due up.



Ugh. But good outing for Kuhl after some crazy starts.

Gift is not a better hitter than Mercer. That's all I am saying.



McCutchen getting heckled after that at bat. Frazier and Harrison are a nice 1-2 punch. Bell walked. Bases loaded for Freese.

Double switch. Jaso made the last out, but he goes to 1B. Nicasio on the mound.

Convinced Hurdle doesn't understand the Double Switch.



Rivero is in for Nicasio. Ortiz could have just pinched hit for Nicasio knowing he wouldn't bat or pitch a second inning.



Now, Bell is out of the game in the four hole and could that spot could bat again. Hurdle wasted two players for one spot. It just doesn't make sense. It's a one run game.  (I also think Bell is fine on defense, Jaso is better, but not that much better to remove the bat).
