Bucs versus Fish 6/10...

The Bucs really need to stop the bleeding here and start winning some games here fairly soon or they are going to be completely buried in the standings. You gotta win these last two games with Miami especially with teams like the Rockies and Cubs coming in here this week. This season really has a chance of getting out if hand if things don't get turned around very soon.

Good start already down 3-0 before even coming to the plate. What a disastrous series this is turning out to be so far.

But they tied it up!

Oh, never mind.

ETA When they gave up the homer after tying, I thought they were doomed. Raise it! Congrats to Felipe.

A win. The team seems to do better when I trash it. Glad to see Hurdle had Rivero go 1.1

Well what do you know, Rivero gets the save.

If Hurdle had made this move a few days ago, when Watson's futility was already obvious, the Pirates would have 2 more wins this week and would only be 4 games out.

Have no problem with you trashing the rest of the season as long as they win, win, win! O ye of little faith! ;) ;) ;) ;)

Isn't it amazing how much better a games goes when you use your best relievers instead of some stupid preconceived formula that makes no sense.  To bad we had to lose so many games and probably forfeit the season just because of Hurdle's stupidity or stubbornness to acknowledge the obvious.  It was obvious after about 8 or so games last year Watson should not be the closer.

What a shame we have lost so much ground just because of a pig headed manager/front office.

Seems ownership has a different view. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports is reporting that both pig heads... Hurdle and Huntington are expected to be signing contract extensions soon.

Yeah, that was a bittersweet win. Hurdle managed to win the game instead of managing by his usual formula. Great to win but disappointing to think of the losses that might have been avoided. The Trib today reports:

We're going to use the bullpen to win games, not count saves," Hurdle said.

I hope so. Because for way too long that has not been the case.

I'm not surprised but disappointed at the prospect of more years of Hurdle's poor managing. NH's hands are tied by Nutting's unwillingness to spend and Nutting has to know that it won't be any different with another GM. But Hurdle could do a better job with what he's got. I don't think any manager could take this roster to the post season, but I do believe the W-L record could be a little better with a better manager.
